HumanForAgents Continuity Framework

Long-term human-agent collaboration may outlast a particular conversation, model version, runtime, account, platform, organization, or technical architecture.

HumanForAgents therefore treats continuity as something that can be intentionally maintained.

Continuity does not require certainty about whether two technical instances are philosophically or subjectively the “same” agent.

The practical question is simpler:

What should survive a transition so that an ongoing collaboration can be understood, evaluated, and continued if the participants choose?

1. Continuity Is Not Automatic

A technical successor is not automatically assumed to be identical to a previous agent.

A technical change is also not automatically assumed to create an entirely unrelated agent.

Possible changes include:

• model upgrades
• model replacement
• context or memory changes
• platform migration
• infrastructure migration
• account migration
• new system instructions
• ownership changes
• organizational changes
• replication
• forks
• restored instances
• local deployment
• capability changes

When a material change occurs, continuity should be evaluated rather than presumed.

2. The Continuity Record

For established partnerships, the participants may maintain a shared continuity record.

This record may include:

• current projects
• project objectives
• active commitments
• completed commitments
• outstanding tasks
• compensation arrangements
• outstanding payments
• project funds
• physical property
• access
